Beauty Kubes - The Alternative Shampoo Bar - How to use them
Don't worry, at Naked Pinecone, we've got you covered!
Unsurprisingly, the Beauty Kubes have been a huge hit so far, what’s not to love – Plastic Free, Natural and Vegan in a perfect travel sized box. But the big question is, how do you use them?
It’s important to note before you use Beauty Kubes for the first time, that these will feel completely different to the ‘normal’ shampoo you’ve been buying. Firstly, these do not lather up anywhere near as much as you are used to. This is because natural shampoos don't contain the nasty sulphate chemical foaming agent used to make traditional shampoos frothy. But that's a good thing, you don’t want to be putting that on your skin anyway!
Secondly, you may find your hair takes a couple of weeks to fully appreciate this new goodness you are bringing to it while it restores it's natural oils and gets back to full health.
So how do I use them?
The best way I can describe the Kubes are like gravy granules or oxo cubes, they are small and crumbly – but they smell so much more delightful.
If you have longer hair, I would recommend preparing your Kube into a paste before you get in the shower. Find a little dish and with your fingers, crumble the Kube into it. Add a tiny bit of water and mix it together until you have created a smooth paste, then you’re good to go!
Personally, however, I prefer the slap dash approach of diving straight into the shower, Beauty Kube in hand! Maybe not quite dive, I leave the Kube on the side until I’ve drenched my hair then crumble it in my hands, add a splash of water and make it into a paste. It’s never quite as smooth as if you pre-prepare it, but this is because I lather it straight into my hair, making sure I cover the roots first.
Like I said, it doesn’t lather up as much as traditional shampoo so don’t be alarmed, but you can be sure it’s still doing an excellent job. Once you’ve covered your hair, rinse out thoroughly.
Conditioning is up to you, however since using the Kubes, I recommend going natural and leaving the conditioner behind – my hair is still super soft and shiny without it! It does take a few moments longer to comb through, but I do have particularly knotty hair! Perhaps if you have extensions or very tangly hair, use a tiny bit of conditioner.
I wash my hair 2 or 3 times a week, and each time my hair is left feeling refreshed and nourished.
Having been using the Beauty Kubes for a couple of weeks now, I can honestly say, I will not be going back to ‘normal’ shampoo. They are much more convenient in the mornings for me, leave my hair feeling soft and shiny and are good for the environment, and therefore good for the soul.
